It's just food!

It is amazing how worked up people get over food. From the servers and cooks to the guests that walk in the front door. I have been on the receiving end and the end that is just giving the manager a verbal thrashing. It is just food people it can be fixed. If your order being wrong or food being over cooked is the worst thing that has happened to you today you are having a FANTASTIC day! I was that way! Angry about everything that went wrong in the restaurant. Take a step back and just look at what is really going on. Yeah you have a couple of people that are not working as fast as you would like but think about the people working there. The Host or Hostess is dealing with every person that walks through the door trying to guess how long that it will take the previous table to get up to keep you from getting upset if he or she guesses this wrong. The server has three to five tables depending on the restaurant that you are at with everyone wanting something at the same time. The kitchen crew usually three to six people are cooking the food for every person that walks through the door with all of the no tomato add extra cheese orders on every level that you can think of. Meanwhile you just had a rough day at work and just want a nice quiet meal and go home to bed. For the most part things go pretty smooth in front of you but just remember that you don't know half of the things that can go wrong in the back. A good restaurant will not tell you because they want you to never know. Let me hear about your experiences. So fire away I am listening.

Restaurants...The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Have you ever been to a restaurant and had a very good experience? How about the bad one that you tell everyone about? Chances are that you have and some of those stories can be entertaining now and some experiences may be moving too. In my life I have worked in and out of restaurants and have seen a lot of thing as an employee as well as a guest. I have been in management positions, cooking, serving, hosting, in the bar to the dish pit. You name it and I have done it. I have also met some of the most amazing people and some that I might want to forget but can't. I think that it would be great to hear from you. Tell me your stories. Tell me about the server that sat by your table and played with your kids while you ate your meal. Tell me about the ghost server that you thought was your server but you never really caught a good glimpse of him because he kept disappearing only to show up with the check at the end. What about the host that started your visit off just fantastic or the hostess that ruined your night as soon as you walked through the door. There are many stories out there and not many places just to free your mind. So fire away I am listening.
